The Moyo Wazi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing with opportunities to develop their leadership skills and give back to their community.
In the year of 1993, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) experienced a traumatizing war that killed thousands of people. The nightmare of rebel gunshots spread into neighborhoods.
Fear took over expecting mothers and their unborn children. Many of these mothers would later find that their child would forever be deaf. This new reality forever changed our lives as we witness the unjust treatment experienced in the deaf community.

VISION 2022
We aim to build a community center for young adults between 18-30 in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The center will be a focal point in the region. We will provide a seamstress training and apprenticeship program and other technical skills that will enable the deaf population to be vital members of society.
“90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents with little or no experience of deafness or knowledge of how to communicate with a deaf person.”
